How entries on the tracker are found, checked and kept up to date.
Each entry originates from one of four kinds of sources:
Every entry is screened before publication. Entries from news reports, government statements and company announcements are checked against the named published source, and headcount figures are checked against what the source actually reports rather than media estimates. The current breakdown between confirmed and insider-reported entries:
The tracker records only Singapore-specific headcount. Global layoff totals are excluded, because they say little about the local employment impact. Where a company announces global cuts, we publish the number affecting Singapore-based employees only — even when that means showing a smaller number than headlines elsewhere.
Entries marked with a ⚠ icon are estimates: the exact Singapore figure was not publicly confirmed. Unmarked figures come from a stated, confirmed source. Estimates are updated to confirmed figures as soon as better information becomes available.
The tracker is updated as new reports and submissions come in, typically within a few days of an announcement.
An "Insider" source is a person with first-hand knowledge of a retrenchment — typically an affected employee. Insider submissions are not independently verified. Submitters must provide a working email address, and entries are screened for plausibility; implausible or unreachable submissions are rejected. Insider entries are labelled Insider – unverified and are upgraded when a published source confirms them. If you believe an entry is wrong, email adrian@layoffsg.com to request a correction or removal; we aim to respond within 3 working days.
